Mass-Market Model Doesn't Work for MAXJet

On Dec. 24, all-Business Class carrier MAXjet Airways filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and halted operations leaving travelers scrambling to find return tickets mid-trip. To help their stranded customers, MAXjet has made arrangements with Eos (nice upgrade); Continental, Silverjet, and US Airways have since stepped up, offering return trips and honoring tickets for forthcoming flights.

The Christmas Eve shutdown was foreshadowed when the company suspended trading of their stock on Dec 7, barely six months after their initial public offering. More analysis on the factors contributing to MAXjet's demise, and what effect its passing will have on surviving all-Business Class airlines and competing Mass Market Carriers (MMCs) is coming in January's First Class Flyer.
