Found: The Greatest British Airways Premium Economy Fare Ever ... and its Upgradeable to Business Class!
Sometimes, not often, we find discounts on top of already discounted fares a convergence of savings that yields an irresistible deal. With a New York-London round-trip in Brithish Airways Premium Economy for $186, this is one of those times.
British Airways is in the midst of a fare promotion, to be ticketed through Feb. 19, that cuts $250 or more from the cost of a Premium Economy round-trip between London and any of their 20+ US gateways. That drops a $686 New York-London fare to $436; a decent enough deal if you stop right there. But wait ...
This week, BA has announced a separate promotion offering a $250 discount on Premium Economy (aka, World Traveller Plus) available exclusively to ba.com members. This offer applies to online bookings only, ticketed by March 8, 2008, for travel through May 25, 2008.

These specials combine to trim $500 from a $686 ticket! Thats a 73% discount to Europe in Premium Economy. Thats London for $186 round-trip. Thats the kind of fare people brag about at cocktail parties for years. It might as well be you.
For the left-coasters, the numbers go like this: Los Angeles-London standard fare, $1,071; minus $291 discount through Feb. 19, $780; minus additional $250 discount, $530. You save 50%.
BAs Premium Economy offers a separate cabin with seats incrementally larger than those in coach. Its a nice alternative for the more budget-conscious traveler, but it wont cause the well-heeled to abandon the comforts found in Business and First Class. If you require that nicer class of travel, dont be miffed; BA has you covered. These rock-bottom Premium Economy fares are upgradeable to Business Class. And if you dont have the 25,000 program miles needed for the upgrade, you can buy them and still get the New York-London round-trip for under a grand.
