While putting American Express revised 2-For-1 program under the microscope, we came across some hidden pitfalls. The program is available to American Express Centurion and Platinum cardholders, and offers special Business Class airfares to Mexico.
Deltas Business Class Airfares to Mexico
Delta is a new member to the program, but is very limited as it only offers 2-For-1 Business Class airfares from three departure cities: Atlanta, New York, and Salt Lake City. The airlines 2-For-1 Business Class airfares are only applicable with the highest, full-fares and often dont even beat the cost of two of its own discounted Business Class fares.

Example: The lowest Business Class airfare for Atlanta-Cancun is $1,038 round-trip, while Delta and Amex charge $2,382 for two tickets through IAP (International Airline Program). Other routes can be even worse for American Express Centurion and Platinum card members.
AeroMexico Business Class Airfares
The 2-For-1 program at times can yield big savings, but the fares vary widely and often youll find better deals among promo fares.
For the best Business Class airfares to Mexico, start with your travel agent or look online; regular published fares have dropped considerably in the past few years as Business Class seat supply exceeds demand.
Conclusion: Before getting an American Express Centurion or Platinum card for the explicit purpose of getting special Business Class airfares to Mexico, think twice. 2-For-1 fares work best, if promo fares are not available and fares on the route are high. Also keep in mind that in the 2-For-1 program only the paying passenger receives miles!

I own about 300,000 points on the Platinum American Express. I just signed-up for the Diners-Master Card, where I will be able to charge close to 100,000 points per month. My question: We will be traveling to Buenos Aires, Argentina next March. What do you recommend as far as 1st class or business class? Our closest airport is BWI and I know that the closest direct flight is United out of Dulles airport. Your response would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Mario Kopeikin
Do you have a recommended web site for places to stay? I need to find a place to stay while working in Kona, Hawaii for 19 days. Thanks, Kathleen
Where should I look for the best business class bargains for RT Albany (NY) /Amsterdam, Ne for advance purchase?
Can you tell me how to get extra American Airlines miles other than purchasing 40M/year and my AA credit card? Aren't they partnered with someone else? I am traveling from Hartford, Ct. to Puerto Vallarta and the first class fare is almost $3,000. Thank you--E. L. Waldron
Please advise as to the value of Capital one no hassle miles card. It seems to me that to use this, takes more miles than dealing with an airline directly. I have used it several times, and they charge miles according to the price of the ticket.
Any advice on finding the best business class rates from US (preferably the west coast) to Spain this coming Spring. We have an AMEX Platinum Card but I don't see anything on that end that looks like it would work. I don't mind taking JetBlue or equivalent to a domestic departure site to start the trip.
Please let your subscribers know that if they book travel through American Airlines to Mexico on codeshare Mexicana, that Mexicana does not honor Executive Platinum status. Today I arrived with my wife and children at 8AM for a 10:10AM flight and was told that my confirmed seats were given to someone else because I was late--. They informed me that although my flight was for December 22 they could not get me on a plane until Dec 25 after the police came since there were over 50 irate people on flights to Cancun and Puerto Vallerta they allegedly booked me on a flight for the 23rd although I have to get to the airport at 7AM. THIS BEHAVIOR CANNOT BE TOLERATED AND MUST BE INVESTIGATED BY YOUR WEB SITE
