Last month we examined the holiday fare war started by Continental and immediately matched by American. Fares start at an amazingly low $900, round-trip, plus taxes. (This year's Thanksgiving fares to European cities are even lower than last.)
Now, over eight more carriers have joined in, which works in your favor. Given the state of the dollar, thats something to be thankful for. With so many choices, the goal is getting the best Business Class seat.
Mileage Runs: If you must fly to keep up your elite status, this is the time to do it. On a per-mile basis, these are some of the lowest fares youll find. Plus, Business Class with most carriers can yield 150% elite and mileage credit.

These fares popped into existence, but vanished very quickly about three weeks ago. If they still exist, finding them is extremely hard. Sometimes you can get better fares on AA by using Kayak to search, and then use the link that Kayak provides, rather than trying to book the same flights through the AA website.

Also, the AA website reflects the best fares in their "price and schedule" option. Some of these fares don't exist very long though. I found a $4633 one-way fare to LHR from ORD in first class (about $1750 less than the normal F fare) on their late departures last week for a mid-November trip. It was gone in an hour, but had I been able to travel in first, it would have been a great deal.
I am looking to travel business/first class from Newark to London 11/27/07-12/6/08 (12/6 is fiexible). Did get fare with continental but have to use 40,000 miles and stay 3 extra days. Any suggestions. I am having trouble finding the low business/firt class deals

I just returned from a trip to India, We flew Lufhansa all the way. It included a change in Munich on the outbound portion and a change in Frankfort on the return. The whole trip was great and the planes were all on time. We flew Business Class on all four legs. I was concerned about leg room due to the fact I am very tall. No problem. Alan K. Gidwitz
Turkish Air to Istanbul is a blessing from Chicago to Istanbul direct...avoiding problems of transfers in other major european cities such as extra currencies, forced layovers to catch morning flights back to USA, delays and missed connections. Business class not up to high comfort of other airlines but food better than all others.
my wife and I recently flew business class from Newark to Frankfurt via Lufthansa. Outstanding service and on time arrivals. I have been flying internationally since 1955 and have been on some excellent airlines and on some that were really, really bad. Based on our travels the past several years, Singapore Airlines is number 1 with Lufthansa and Air New Zealand tied for number 2. JAL is good as is Thai. We have had flights on South African, Air Pacific which were good. I do believe that Singapore is really tops. Flight from Bangkok to Perth was great.
We just decided to take a family trip to Nairobi from San Francisco in March. We will be connecting with extended family living in Kenya and returning with them to San Francisco. They already have tickets on British Airways. We would appreciate any suggestion someone may have in locating the best available tickets and possibly upgrading our family to business class seats. Thank you.

Has anyone seen any deals on biz class fares from NYC to Paris or Brussels in January -- particularly aorund MLK weekend. Many thanks.
If you look at BA from EWR to LHR and they have "I" class you could go Buss for $4950. Mercyf
I am a new member and I am taking my mother to Europe in June. She has never been and I want it to be a great experience. We will be flying from Michigan and our final destination is Geneva Switzerland. Can you recommend the best way to get there? I have looked at flying directly into Geneva as well as into Paris and then taking the train, but all options I have found we well over $3000 per person business class.
I am planning a surprice trip foer my husband from Miami to Paris.are there discount business class faMiami-paris. This will be for march. Thanks Gisela
Here is an idea for anyone who is looking for decent prices for business class/premium economy tickets and has AMEX points. I just came back from London and went premium economy one way and upper class on the return flight. After trying several airlines I called Virgin Atlantic and their upgradeable fare was only 160.00 more that the unflexible economy fare. I then used 10,000 points from AMEX going over in premiun economy (business class) and 30,000 points returning in upper class. The beauty about AMEX miles is that if you do not have enough miles you can buy the additional miles you might need, in my case at a cost of 2.5 per mile, and with Virgin Air it was 1 point for 1 mile. Well worth doing when you want to upgrade during the expensive times of the year or if you do not have a flexible schedule to take advantage of the specials the airlines promote. Just remember you must purchase an flexible fare to upgrade your seats. Also, call AMEX and make sure you have a card that acommodates your needs.
We are travelling to Europe this July on boat from Boston to Amsterdam, returning on Aug 2nd from Amsterdam or London to US by air. Anyone knows how to buy 2 business class one way tickets at a discount? We have a lot of AMEX awards points, can we use them to upgrade? Called Continental, they were anything but helpful. Will not tell us if and when upgradable tickets are available between now and Aug. Round trip economy tickets are around $1,450, but one way is $$3,655! Will appreciate any suggestions.
