United Airlines offers premium service (p.s.) aboard B757s between New York and Los Angeles and San Francisco.
The Business Class cabin on these flights feels extraordinarily roomy, owing to a seven-foot open area between rows eight and nine to serve the emergency exits. That means you should try for a Business Class seat in row nine, if possible.

Premium service B757 aircraft have 12 lie-flat First Class seats, plus 26 Business Class seats, and another 72 seats in the all-Economy Plus coach cabin.
The First Class seats are essentially the Singapore Airlines Business Class Space Bed, minus some of the entertainment features.
The Business Class seats are the ones featured on Uniteds international flights. They have extendable footrests, adjustable lumbar support, individual reading lamps, and an adapterfree 110-volt power outlet for laptops.
Most importantly, these Business Class seats push back -- way back. The rows are spaced far enough apart so that you dont feel penned in if the passenger in the row ahead pushes back to full recline.

actually 6d is my preferred seat on this aircraft. You get 3 windows and can get around the person in the aisle w/o them having to move.
I do not agree that one should opt for row 9 on the United PS service because of the emergency exit. While this looks good on paper, the row in front of you is so far away that accessing you stuff is so difficult you might as well be in a bulkhead. And the distance between you and the other seats in other rows is so great that there is plenty of leg room no matter what row you are in. Dave Smith
The above is true but what United calls "First Class" on its two-cabin flights is nothing but a wider seat and food and beverage service. Not foot rest. Hardly any lean back, etc. Should be called wider seat class of eat and drink class. Definitely not first class.
We fly United PS service all the time, using points to upgrade. So far, all the rows are excellent. It's our favorite business class seat so far! If you really want a scoop on the seats, go to www.seatguru.com by the way, has anyone flown Virgin America and can comment on the seats?
Although I took the flight a few months past, I must inform everyone on my Air France flight from LAX to CDG aboard first class. The seats themselves were excellent BUT this is where it ends. The food was horrible along with FA whom really did not care. Upon arriving at CDG..it was a nightmare not only because of the ongoing renovations at CDG but NONE of the promise services that AF promotes from arrival lounge to gate assistance were present. In fact, the arrival lounge was located after nearly an hour of searching as most AF employees had not idea where it was located. I will say again that the seats in first class were excellent but the service is horrible. I look forward to trying BA first class in a few months.
regarding S. Weisbrandt's comments about Air France Business Class from LAX to CDG: actually we flew this route in the height of the summer and were very impressed. The food was impeccable - fois gras, and ribeye steak, for example, combined with choice champagne - nothing to complain about. The seats come with a little back massager, also nothing to complain about. I don't think that AF is responsible for airport construction and I would recommend another try with AF.
