Its been a long summer with little relief from high fares, as airlines have made hanging onto a buck into an Olympic sport. AirTran, however, is loosening its grip on premium fares to close the season with a rare special on domestic Business Class travel, offering fares as low as $134, one-way.
American, Delta and Continental are showing some team spirit by matching fares on some routes, too (hit and miss). Unfortunately, these Business and First Class airfare bargains are only available for about as long as it takes Michael Phelps to cross a hot tub so act now!
SAMPLE ROUND-TRIP FIRST CLASS FARES
Chicago-Miami / $528 / AirTran, Continental
Dallas-Orlando / $406 / AirTran, American, Continental, Delta
Los Angeles-Atlanta / $498 / AirTran, Continental, Delta
New York-Atlanta / $358 / AirTran, Delta
The ticketing deadline is Friday Aug. 22, for travel through Oct. 8, 2008. Fares require a three-day advance purchase. Blackout dates are Aug. 28, 29 and Sept. 1, 2. No round-trip or Saturday-night stay is necessary.

I noticed in attempting to take advantage of this offer that I was redirected to the Frontier site. I was not able to purchase a first class seat even though I chose that option. I do not normally fly Frontier so am not sure if they just do not offer First class....
How about specials like this from Florida?
Hi, I purchased 2 tickets on Continental, from Newark to Zuerich, Switzerland, for $ 1600.00 each. (11/23/08 ~ 12/03/08) Good deal. Otto Hugi
I am trying to use miles for upgrades to Beijing next April. Any suggestions? Although there are no seats taken on the flight, they won't do the "saver" miles but want twice as many miles as advertised.
Interestingly I was offered a "special" on United's website when I bought a $380 r/t ticket DEN-AUS - upon check-out they offered an upgrade to First for $200. That's a $580 r/t flight in First confirmed! Granted, there's no food service but the earning bonuses all count.
Just flew NY to London on BA business class 8 pm flight. Someone should let the public know that this is a pre-dinner flight - not a dinner flight as my itinerary showed. "Just a starving flyer"...
Re: Posted by: ljohnston | 11:40 PM CT August 20 Does Frontier have 1st class? I thought it was like Southwest? JLH
Frontier does not have First.
We're at the mercy of American Airlines out of south florida, especially Miami. I've never found any good deals for biz or first class travel. And fares to Europe are just crazy. Any help here?
How valuable is a CAPITAL ONE VISA? It seems to me they take a lot of points for a flight. I asked this before, and did not get an answer. Perhaps there is a better card which is good for all airlines. Please help

We just flew Business BA to London from Newark, and we had a pre flight dinner. The lounge was very nice and the supper buffet was very good. We were also served pre-bed-time snacks and hot chocolate, we could go to the gally for snacks, and we were served breakfast proir to landing. Obviously the previous person did not fly business.
I contacted British Airways toget a companion ticket and had to pay the high fare not the low fare listed on the web site. BA should alert their customers of this fact.
www.flights-to-europe.com may have some low fares from S. Florida to Europe. I found a STL-CPH business class fare for less than $2000 for a trip departing Sep. 15. Funky routing via Air France and Delta (yuck,) but it's business class.
I am interested in how I can get a good deal for my wife and myself for a round the world trip from Sydney Aust to Peking, Vancouver then New York Dublin (Ireland), Amsterdam, Mumbai then back to Sydney. We plan to leave Sydney around 24th May 2009 and return by 10th June 2009. We are keen to do it either business class or first class. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you
CMcIvor, You might do a search for Round the World Fares. The Star Alliance has a page with the ins and outs of going around the world on one itinerary. http://www.staralliance.com/en/travellers/fare_products/round_the_world_fare.html Good luck
I will be traveling to shanghai next month I can travel directly from JFK, ATL or SFO any good upgrades?
Has anyone tried the L'Avion from Newark to Paris or Amsterdam? The fares listed are under $1400 RT on all-Business Class flights.
Would like to go to Hawaii first week of December. Delta requires a Y, B, H fare for upgrade ($1300) any tricks/other skyteam members that will make this upgrade less costly? Thanks,
3 questions. 1) W/ the Santiago(DR) airport soon to close, and when, will Delta ever fly to the Dom. Rep. again & where? 2)How great is the demand for the Delta Reserve & will they ever have a promo like how they did the AMEX Plat? I recently took a RT from PHL-DFW & a stewardess told me that Delta was supposed to get new mgmt & make the awards program better. Is there any truth to this?
Looking for a reasonable fare to Shanghai (PVG) for Dec. 20th 2008 to Jan. 4 2009 return. Home airport is LAX but SFO could also be used for better savings. Any suggestions?
