Timing is Everything to Book Cheap Business Class Tickets to Asia

Book a cheap Business Class ticket at the right time and you can get Europe for $1,100 round-trip or Asia for $1,600 Business Class.

It’s true. Because business travelers tend to stay home over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, airlines often dump Business Class seats at prices that can be less than some coach fares.

That means you can get a cheap Business Class ticket to Asia for even lower than normal -- possibly less than $2,000.

Northwest began offering the special Business Class airfares in 2004, starting as low as $1,388 round-trip, but they jumped in 2006, but still $400 to $3,000 off normal fares, depending on the destination.

With increased capacity, I see fares falling somewhere between those of the last three years.

Interested in Business on flights between Los Angeles and Bangkok, and between Los Angeles and Singapore

I have been a member of your news letter for a few months and have not seen anything concerning Korean air. I fly to Dalian China 5 times per year from Chicago and they seem to have the better pricing if you look at the list price. I have had no issues with them quality wise and the trip timing is good. I just wondered if you have any experience with them or know of any discount deals? Thanks, Rick Shipway

Any Ideas on well priced business class seats from New York to Bangkok?

Posted by: MSteinberg | 10:46 AM CT October 14

My husband and I flew Continental from Newark to Beijing and returned Hong Kong to Newark for just 100,000 miles in August 2007, booking only about 6 weeks in advance. There was quite a lot of availability to and from Beijing (as compared to other airlines I have miles with, such as Delta, which on many routes seems to offer no seats for a reasonable number of miles no matter how far in advance you book), fewer seats were available home from Hong Kong, but two became available just when we needed them. Continental's Business service isn't quite as good as some European airlines (I have a restricted diet and skipped much of the meal, but when I asked for a second portion on the salad they said they carry only one per customer), but overall it was a very pleasant business class trip at a very reasonable mileage price, particularly considering the distance. I have cancelled my Delta Amex card and switched to Amex Gold, because the miles were too hard to use given Delta's lack of availability of seats. We need to send a message to Delta that we won't accumulate their miles if they won't give us seats.

Because my husband is in public education, we are limited to vacationing when most of the northern hemisphere does. We would like to go to Vietnam and Laos for two weeks to 189 days in late July-early August 2008 and would like to use frequent flier points to upgrade from Newark to Ho Chi Minh City. Any ideas? Thanks.

NEED INFO ON GETTING AN UPGRADE TO BUSINESS CLASS FOR TRIP TO TOKYO NEVER TRAVELED BEFORE DON'T KNOW HOW THAT CAN BE DONE AMERICAN AIRLINES HELP I AM TRAVEL DUMB

Posted by: LKar | 2:52 PM CT February 8

I travel between New York about 12 times a year. I have noticed the past year that there are almost ne empty seats in COACH or BUSINESS. This is astounding, as I have never seen so many infants and children traveling into H K and I guess further on into the MAINLAND. This poses a problem for all us frequent flyers. We never seem to get our upgrades, and the noise level on these long flights is sometimes intolerable. Now, this is even on Cathay, which is an excellent airline. I wonder! does anyone out there who travels this route have any suggestions about flights that are more comfortable, or routes that might offer the possibility of upgrades and "quieter" cabins?
