Our Philosophy
We are a tight-knit team of researchers, writers and editors working from an office neighboring Monterey Peninsular Airport. Led by Matthew Bennett. We share strong beliefs:
WE BELIEVE in the airline industrys pricing, scheduling and reward systems
IN THEIR illogical and infuriating inconsistencies and complexities Which We Know Are There For a Reason1
WE BELIEVE that if we keep digging in the rich humus of timetables and regulations and fine print we will keep discovering undreamed of upgrade opportunities
THAT OUR many thousands of subscribers (still a mere half a percent of daily air travelers worldwide) are right to assume air travel is there to be 'enjoyed not endured,' but wrong to assume it will ever be as enjoyable as airline ads suggest
WE BELIEVE that applied determination a little of it on your part and much of it on our part protects against the dignity-bruising 'service' delivery of the airline industry
THAT THERE is enjoyment to be found in beating the airlines at their own game beyond the comforts won and dollars saved
THAT REFUSING as best we can to be human cargo and instead using never abusing the system can be noble and ennobling, and
THAT BETTY Crockers got a lot to answer for2
1So we can find the loopholes and anomalies that allow people to fly premium for less than the price of premium, sometimes for the price of coach, occasionally for less than the price of coach.
2Well, shes not really to blame she never existed. But it's her, and those like her, who were dreamt up by big marketing organizations, who make it hard for Matthew Bennett, and those like him, who do definitely exist; real people enjoying the real buzz of building a business on What Makes Them Tick. (In the case of Matthew Bennett / Mr. Upgrade: "Simply to give reader what they would not think of on their own or get anywhere else in the world. These are often anomalies. I love to find them. They make me tick.")
